Ingredients:
- 1 cup semolina (sooji)
- 2 tablespoons Thapovana Ghrita
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon urad dal (split black gram)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 carrot, grated
- 1/2 cup green peas
- 2 cups water
- Salt (to taste)
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
- Dry roast semolina in a pan until it turns golden brown. Set aside.
- In the same pan, heat Thapovana Ghrita. Add mustard seeds and urad dal.
- Once the seeds splutter and dal turns golden, add chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
- Add grated carrot and green peas. Cook for a few minutes.
- Pour water into the pan and bring it to a boil.
- Gradually add the roasted semolina, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
- Cook until the upma thickens. Add salt to taste.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving
